Chilton County, located in the great state of Alabama, was established on December 30, 1868. The county was originally named Baker County in honor of Alfred Baker, an influential local citizen. It was renamed Chilton County in 1874 after William Parish Chilton, a respected Alabama legislator, judge, and Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court.

The county, positioned in central Alabama, covers an area of approximately 700 square miles. The county seat is Clanton, which also serves as the largest city in the region. The population of Chilton County currently stands at around 44,000 residents. The county has a rich history in agriculture, predominantly focusing on the cultivation of peaches, cotton, and peanuts. Local industries have also included timber and manufacturing.

Chilton County is well-known for its peach production, and it holds the annual Chilton County Peach Festival. A fun fact about this region is that it is home to the "Peach Park," a popular tourist spot in Clanton known for selling freshly picked peaches, peach ice cream, and other peach-themed treats.
