Boone County is located in the northwestern region of the great state of Arkansas, and has a rich history that dates back to its founding on April 9, 1869. The county is named after the explorer and frontiersman, Daniel Boone. Harrison, the most populous city in the county, was founded in 1870 and serves as the county seat.

Before Boone County's establishment, the area was inhabited by Native American tribes, including the Osage and the Caddo. During the 1800s, European settlers, mainly from Tennessee and Kentucky, began to migrate to the area, drawn by the promise of fertile land and rich natural resources.

During the Civil War, the region witnessed several skirmishes and battles, including the famous White River Campaign, which took place in and around Boone County. After the conflict, the county experienced an economic boom with the discovery of zinc and lead mines, and the arrival of the St. Louis & Northern Arkansas Railroad in the 1890s, which promoted growth and development in the area.

Agriculture and livestock also played significant roles in Boone County's history. The county was known for producing fruit, corn, wheat, and cotton, and was also home to large cattle and sheep farms.

One fun fact about Boone County is that it's home to the Mystic Caverns and Crystal Dome, which are two breathtaking underground caves that date back millions of years. These incredible natural wonders attract numerous tourists to the area and feature stunning limestone formations, such as stalactites, stalagmites, and flowstones.
