Huntington County, located in the great state of Indiana, was officially established in 1832 and named in honor of Samuel Huntington, a revered political leader and signer of the Declaration of Independence. The county is situated in the northeastern part of Indiana and covers an area of about 387 square miles. Huntington, the county seat, was established in 1848.

While the Miami Tribe originally inhabited the area, European-American settlers started moving into the area in the early 19th century. Agricultural development emerged as the primary economic activity in the early years, and in the mid-19th century, the Wabash and Erie Canal aided in the growth of trade and commerce in the area.

A notable fun fact about Huntington County is its association with the Vice President Dan Quayle. He was born and raised in Huntington, Indiana, and even served as a United States Senator from Indiana.
