Warrick County, located in the great state of Indiana, was officially established on April 30, 1813. It was one of the earliest counties formed in Indiana and is situated in the southwestern part of the state, covering an area of approximately 391 square miles. The county was named in honor of Captain Jacob Warrick, a seasoned frontiersman and military officer who played a crucial role in the Battle of Tippecanoe in 1811 and died tragically in the subsequent conflict during the War of 1812.

The Warrick County seat, Boonville, was founded in 1818 and named after Ratliff Boon, a close associate of President William Henry Harrison and the second governor of Indiana. The region boasts a rich history of coal mining, with the first coal mine opening in 1838, which eventually supported the development of the Boonville-Tecumseh Coal Mining Company in the early 1900s. Although the coal mining industry has since declined, Warrick County's economy has diversified and includes manufacturing industries and agriculture.

One fun fact about Warrick County is that it's home to the Scales Lake Park in Boonville, which offers a variety of recreational activities, including camping, fishing, boating, hiking, biking trails, and even a waterslide. This family-friendly park is a popular destination during the warmer months and showcases the county's idyllic natural beauty.
