Pawnee County is located in the great state of Kansas, within the United States of America. Established on February 26, 1867, the county was named after the Pawnee Native American tribe who once inhabited the area. The county seat and largest city is Larned.

Throughout history, the region of Pawnee County has been strongly connected to the Santa Fe Trail, a historical trade route that connected Missouri to Santa Fe in the southwestern United States.
