Kenton County is located in the northern part of the great state of Kentucky, just south of Cincinnati, Ohio. It was founded on January 29, 1840, and was named after Simon Kenton, a legendary frontiersman who was an important figure in the early history of Kentucky.

Before European settlers arrived, the area that is now known as Kenton County was inhabited by Native American tribes like the Shawnee and the Cherokee. In the late 18th century, European settlers, including Simon Kenton, explored and began settling in the area, particularly in what would become the city of Covington.

Kenton County played a vital role in the growth and development of the region, particularly in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The county's strategic location along the Ohio River made it a center for industry and commerce. Additionally, its proximity to Cincinnati led to the development of several railways and major infrastructure projects, which further boosted the local economy.

As of the 2020 census, Kenton County has a population of approximately 167,015 residents. The county seat is located in the city of Covington, which is also the largest city in the county. Other notable cities and towns in Kenton County include Independence, Erlanger, and Fort Mitchell.

One fun fact about Kenton County is that it is home to the World's Only Vent Haven Museum, which is dedicated entirely to the art of ventriloquism. This unique local attraction houses over 900 ventriloquist figures, dating back to the 19th century, and an extensive library of historical documents and memorabilia.
