Scott County, located in the heart of the Bluegrass region in Kentucky, was established in 1792 and named after General Charles Scott, a Revolutionary War hero, who later became the fourth Governor of Kentucky. Georgetown, the county seat, was founded by Elijah Craig in 1789 and named in honor of President George Washington.

Scott County's rich history is synonymous with the development of the horse industry and farming in the region. It's famously known as the home of the Cardome Centre, previously known as the Cardome Visitation Academy, which was a religious education institution established in 1898. The Cardome Centre now serves as a popular event space and historical site.

One fun fact about Scott County and the Georgetown area is that it's home to Kentucky's leading Thoroughbred horse farm, the well-known Kentucky Horse Park. This 1,200-acre park attracts thousands of tourists annually and showcases breeds from around the world as well as numerous equestrian events and competitions.
