Webster Parish is located in the northwestern part of Louisiana and was established on February 27, 1871. It was created from parts of Bossier and Bienville Parishes, and its parish seat is the town of Minden, founded in the 1830s. The parish was named after American statesman Daniel Webster, who served as a U.S. Congressman, U.S. Senator, and Secretary of State.

In its early history, the territory was inhabited by the Caddo Indians, followed by Spanish and French explorers who arrived in the 18th century. The area saw its first European settlers in the 19th century, and it became a trade hub due to the navigable waterways and the arrival of the railroad. Farming and timber were important industries, with the lumbering boom in the early 20th century contributing significantly to the development of the region.

Webster Parish has a rich cultural heritage that includes a mix of Caddo Indian, French, and African American influences. The region is known for its beautiful landscapes, such as the Lake Bistineau State Park and the Caney Lakes Recreation Area, which attract tourists and outdoor enthusiasts.

One fun fact about Webster Parish is that it is home to Bonnie and Clyde's Ambush Museum, located in the town of Gibsland. The museum is dedicated to the infamous outlaw couple Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow and the events leading to their deaths in the nearby town of Bienville Parish in 1934. Visitors can explore various exhibits and learn about the lives and criminal activities of the couple and their connection to the region.
