Grundy County is a county located in the northern part of the great state of Missouri. Established on January 2, 1841, it was named after Felix Grundy, a prominent U.S. Senator from Tennessee and the 13th Attorney General of the United States. The county seat is Trenton, which is also the largest city in the county.

The territory that would become Grundy County was originally inhabited by Native American tribes, such as the Missouri and Iowa. European-American settlement started in the early 19th century as pioneers moved westward in search of new opportunities. The rapid influx of settlers led to the creation of new counties, among which Grundy County was one.

The establishment of the Hannibal and St. Joseph Railroad in the 1850s provided a significant boost to the local economy, connecting Grundy County to major trade centers and contributing to the growth of its population. Agriculture played a major role in the development of the county, with the fertile land supporting crops such as corn, wheat, and hay, as well as livestock production.

Over time, Grundy County has remained mostly rural, with its economy still primarily based on agriculture. Some of the attractions in the county include the Grundy County Museum, which showcases the area's history, and Crowder State Park, a popular recreational site.

A fun fact about Grundy County is related to one of its small towns, Spickard. Spickard was once a booming railroad town in the late 1800s, and legend has it that the infamous outlaw Jesse James and his gang spent a night in the Spickard jail during one of their visits to the area.
