Renville County is located in the north-central region of the great state of North Dakota, USA. Established on November 4, 1910, Renville County was created from parts of Bottineau and Ward counties. The county was named in honor of Joseph Renville, a fur trader and guide of mixed Sioux and French Canadian heritage, who played a significant role in early Euro-American settlement activities in the Dakota Territory.

The county seat, Mohall, was named after Martin O. Hall, one of the first settlers in the Renville County region. Agriculture has been the mainstay of the local economy, with the fertile soil fostering the growth of crops such as wheat, barley, and canola.

One fun fact about Renville County is that it is home to Carpenter Lake National Wildlife Refuge, an important refuge and breeding ground for migratory birds and other wildlife. The refuge, spanning over 1,700 acres, was established in 1941 and offers visitors the opportunity to birdwatch and observe the region's diverse wildlife.
