Stanton County is a picturesque region located in the great state of Nebraska, United States. Established on February 17, 1862, it was originally called "Izard County" in honor of Mark W. Izard, the second territorial governor in Nebraska. Later, on June 22, 1867, it was officially organized and renamed Stanton County to honor Edwin M. Stanton, the U.S. Secretary of War during President Abraham Lincoln's administration.

The county spans approximately 431 square miles and is characterized by its agricultural industry, primarily focused on livestock and crop production, such as corn and soybeans. As of the 2020 census, its population is approximately 5,920 residents. The county seat, Stanton, is an important hub within the county, hosting essential facilities like the Stanton County Courthouse.

A fun fact about Stanton County is the presence of the historical attraction called the "Stanton Airfield," which was built to serve as a satellite airfield during World War II. The airfield is still in use today for general aviation and contributes to the rich aviation heritage of Stanton County.
