Union County is located in the great state of South Carolina and was established in the year 1785. It was formed from parts of the District Ninety-Six and later became part of the Pinckney District in 1791. Union County has a rich history, which dates back to the pre-colonial era when Native Americans inhabited the region.

During the American Revolutionary War, the region played a significant role as it was the site of various battles including the Battle of Musgrove Mill and the Battle of Blackstock's Farm, both in 1780. These battles were pivotal in weakening British influence in the region and turning the tide for the American revolutionaries.

In the 19th century, Union County and the surrounding regions experienced rapid industrial and economic growth, primarily driven by the textile industry. As a result, several mills were established in the county, providing ample employment opportunities for the residents.

Union County was heavily impacted by the American Civil War, as South Carolina was one of the first states to secede from the Union in 1860. The county sent several troops to serve in the Confederate Army and also experienced disruption to its economy and infrastructure during the war.

Fun Fact: One interesting piece of trivia about Union County is related to its famous ghost story. It is said that the ghost of a Confederate soldier named Bill Pritchard still haunts the hallowed fields around the Cross Keys House, a historic plantation built around 1812. The Cross Keys House is the oldest standing structure in Union County and is a popular destination for history buffs and ghost story enthusiasts alike.
