.Henry County, located in the northwestern part of Tennessee, is steeped in history dating back to when it was first created in 1821. Named in honor of the Revolutionary War patriot and orator, Patrick Henry, this region played a significant role in the antebellum period as a hub for agriculture and trade along the Tennessee River during the 19th century.
The county seat, Paris, was established in the same year and incorporated in 1823. Henry County was also an important site during the American Civil War.
