Harrison County is located in the great state of Texas, within the northeastern region along the border of Louisiana. The county was officially established on January 28, 1839, and named after Jonas Harrison, a prominent lawyer and Texas revolutionary. The development and growth of this county were primarily driven by its rich agricultural lands, which supported activities like cotton, corn, and vegetable farming.

In the early days, Harrison County experienced rapid growth due to the steamboat trade along the rivers and, later on, the arrival of the railroad. With an extensive network of railways by the late 1800s, Marshall, the county seat, emerged as a crucial transportation hub of the region. The county's economy was further boosted thanks to the discovery of oil in the early 20th century.

A fun fact about Harrison County is that it is home to the Caddo Lake State Park, which boasts one of the largest bald cypress forests in the world. The lake is named after the Caddo Native American tribe, which inhabited the area before European settlers arrived. The Caddo Lake is a unique and diverse ecosystem, featuring swamp-like conditions, towering cypress trees, and various species of wildlife. Visitors can enjoy fishing, birdwatching, and exploring the beautiful and mysterious waterways of this natural wonder.
