Pulaski County, located in the great state of Virginia, was established in 1839. It was named in honor of Count Casimir Pulaski, a Polish nobleman and soldier who fought alongside George Washington in the American Revolutionary War. The county is part of the Blacksburg-Christiansburg-Radford metropolitan area in southwestern Virginia.

The New River, which flows through Pulaski County, is the centerpiece of the region's natural beauty and rich history. Native American tribes, such as the Cherokee, once inhabited the land alongside the river. European settlers later arrived in the 18th century, primarily Scots-Irish and German immigrants. Throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, industries such as railways, textiles, and furniture manufacturing shaped the economic landscape of the county.

One fun fact about Pulaski County is that it is home to the New River Valley Airport, which hosts the annual New River Valley Air Show, a popular family-friendly event featuring aerobatic performances, aircraft displays, and various other aerial attractions.
