Lincoln County is located in the eastern part of the great state of Washington. The county was created on November 24, 1883, out of a portion of Whitman County. It is named after President Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States. The county seat and largest city is Davenport. The county has a total area of 2,339 square miles, making it the fifth smallest county in Washington by land area.

The region was originally inhabited by indigenous tribes, including the Spokane tribe. European-American settlers began arriving in the late 19th century, attracted by the fertile land and abundant natural resources. Agriculture, livestock farming, and timber played a vital role in the county's economy during its early development.

As the area grew, the construction of railroads helped to connect the county with neighboring communities, encouraging further growth of trade and agriculture. Wheat and barley remain significant contributors to the local economy, with Lincoln County being one of the top producers of wheat in the United States.

Fun Fact: Lincoln County is home to a unique geological formation called the Lake Lenore Caves. These caves were formed over 10,000 years ago during the last ice age when meltwater currents eroded basalt rock formations. The caves were historically used by Native American tribes for shelter, storage, and food preparation, and today they are popular among tourists and hikers who visit to learn about their history and explore the unique landscape.
