Chippewa County is a county located in the state of Wisconsin, established in 1845 and officially organized in 1853. The county is named after the Ojibwe (Chippewa) tribe of Native Americans, who were the original inhabitants of the area. It covers approximately 1,041 square miles in northwestern Wisconsin and as of the 2020 census, had a population of over 65,000 residents.

The county has a rich history of lumber and agriculture industries. In the 19th century, lumber mills were built along the Chippewa River, which helped boost the economy and drive population growth in the region. Many European immigrants, including Norwegians, Germans, and Irish, were attracted to the area due to the availability of jobs in the lumber industry.

The county seat and largest city in Chippewa County is Chippewa Falls, which was incorporated in 1869. Chippewa Falls is home to the Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company, founded by Jacob Leinenkugel in 1867. This brewery has grown to become one of the largest and most well-known craft beer producers in the United States. Another notable city in the county is Bloomer, which has a curious claim to fame: it is known as the "Rope Jump Capital of the World." This fun fact stems from the annual Rope Jumping Contest held in the city since the 1960s, where individuals and teams compete to break world records for the sport.

Chippewa County's diverse history and unique attractions make it an interesting destination in the state of Wisconsin.
