Juneau County, located in the great state of Wisconsin, was created in 1856 and organized in 1857. Its name gives tribute to a prominent political figure from the period, Solomon Juneau. Solomon Juneau (1793-1856) was a French-Canadian fur trader, land speculator, and politician who co-founded the city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Juneau County is situated in the central part of Wisconsin with a total area of approximately 804 square miles. Over the years, agriculture, forestry, and manufacturing industries have served as the backbone of Juneau County's economy.

A fun fact about Juneau County: the Necedah National Wildlife Refuge is located in this county. Established in 1939, the wildlife reserve spans over 43,696 acres of dense wetland and forest area.
