The North Slope Borough is located in the northernmost region of Alaska and covers about 94,000 square miles. It is home to approximately 8,700 people, of which around 95% are Inupiat Eskimos. The borough's population is mostly concentrated in a few larger communities, with the largest being Barrow, Alaska, which has approximately 4,400 inhabitants.
