Cullman County, located in the great state of Alabama, was established on January 24, 1877, by the Alabama State Legislature. Named after Colonel John G. Cullmann a German immigrant and founder of Cullman, the county seat the county was created from portions of Blount, Walker, Morgan, and Winston counties. Colonel Cullmann had played a significant role in recruiting other German immigrants to the region, thereby boosting its development.

The county, which covers an area of about 738 square miles, mainly consists of rural areas and small towns. The northern portions are part of the Appalachian Mountain foothills, and the southern parts are mainly characterized by the state's Coastal Plain. Primarily an agricultural region, Cullman County relies on industries such as poultry farming and soybean cultivation.

A fun fact about Cullman County is that it hosts the annual Bloomin' Festival, a two-day arts and crafts event showcasing handmade works by artisans from across the Southeastern United States. The festival takes place on the campus of St. Bernard Abbey and Prep School and attracts thousands of visitors each year.
