Dale County, in the great state of Alabama, was established on December 22, 1824. It is named after General Samuel Dale, a pioneer and renowned Indian fighter. The county, originally part of the Creek Indian territory, is located in the southeastern part of the state, mainly in the Wiregrass region. The county seat of Dale County is the city of Ozark.

Dale County has experienced several boundary changes throughout its history. Initially, it covered a large part of what is now Coffee County and Geneva County. The county saw growth during the antebellum period, fueled by the introduction of cotton cultivation. In 1868, the creation of the present-day Coffee County reduced Dale County's boundaries to their current size.

Dale County has played a vital role in the state's military history as well. Fort Rucker, the primary flight training base for U.S. Army Aviation, is located within the county. Established in World War II, Fort Rucker is named after Brigadier General Edmund W. Rucker, a Confederate Civil War officer.

One fun fact about Dale County is that it hosts the annual "Peanut Festival" in the nearby city of Dothan, a celebration that takes place every fall to honor the region's prominent peanut production. Dothan is often referred to as the "Peanut Capital of the World," as it produces more than half of the peanuts grown in the United States.
