Conway County, located in the great state of Arkansas, was established on October 20, 1825, and named in honor of Henry Wharton Conway, who was a territorial delegate to the United States Congress. It was formed from a portion of the larger Pulaski County.

Morrilton, the county seat, was founded by George H. Morrill in 1871, and it was initially known as Lewisburg. In 1883, the name was changed to Morrilton to avoid confusion with another town called Lewisburg in northwestern Arkansas. Throughout its history, Conway County has had a rich agricultural and industrial heritage.

The county is positioned along the Arkansas River, and its landscape includes a combination of plains, forests, and waterways. It's also home to the Petit Jean State Park, which is Arkansas's first state park, established in 1923. The state park features beautiful natural scenery that showcases the geological diversity of the region, including Cedar Falls, a spectacular 95-foot waterfall.

A fun fact about Conway County is the annual "Pig Out" festival held in Morrilton. This unique event features a barbecue competition, live music, and various family-friendly activities. The festival has been an entertaining tradition for the county since 1987 and continues to draw visitors from all around.
