Miller County is located in the southwestern region of the great state of Arkansas, bordering the state of Texas. The county was established on April 1, 1820, and was named in honor of James Miller, a decorated military officer, and the first Governor of the Arkansas Territory. The county seat and largest city in Miller County is Texarkana.

Miller County has a fascinating history due to its location near the Red River, which has long been an important transportation route for the region. The area was inhabited by several Native American tribes, including the Caddo, prior to European exploration and settlement. In the early 1800s, European settlers, mainly of Anglo-American descent, began to arrive, attracted by the fertile lands and the prospect of trade.

The original boundaries of Miller County extended into present-day Texas, but conflicts between Texas and Arkansas over the jurisdiction led to the abolishment of the county in 1838. After the settlement of the boundary dispute, Miller County was reestablished in its current form on December 22, 1874.

Throughout its history, Miller County's economy has been based on agriculture, with cotton being the primary crop. In the 20th century, the focus shifted to industry, and today, the county's economy relies on a mix of agriculture, manufacturing, and service industries.

A fun fact about Miller County is that it is home to the Fouke Monster, a Bigfoot-like creature reported to roam the swamps around the small town of Fouke. The creature gained national attention in the early 1970s, and the ensuing legend inspired the 1972 docudrama film, "The Legend of Boggy Creek," further popularizing the tale of the Fouke Monster.
