Stone County, situated in the great state of Arkansas, was officially established on April 21, 1873, and named after the natural features consisting of numerous limestone bluffs, ridges, and caves. Initially, this region was inhabited by Native Americans of the Osage and Ouachita tribes. European-American settlement began in the early 1800s when families migrated from Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois, and Missouri attracted by the abundant natural resources, fertile soil, and hunting opportunities.

The county seat is Mountain View, aptly named for its beautiful, panoramic views of the surrounding mountainous terrain. Stone County is also home to the Ozark National Forest and Blanchard Springs Caverns, offering abundant opportunities for outdoor adventures.

One fun fact about Stone County is that it hosts the annual Arkansas Folk Festival, a celebration of traditional Ozark culture that showcases local musicians, artists, and craftsmen. This festival is typically held in Mountain View during the month of April and attracts visitors from all over the nation to experience the unique blend of bluegrass, country, and folk music that characterizes the region.
