The people rule

Front of the US quarter dollar coin   Arkansas State Quarter

The Arkansas state quarter was issued in 2003 and was designed by Little Rock resident and sculptor Danny Luckett. The design features an image of the state bird, the mockingbird, perched atop a diamond, which is symbolic of the state's nickname, the "Diamond State." The state tree, the loblolly pine, is also featured in the background. The state's name, "Arkansas," is inscribed along the bottom of the coin. The quarter also features the state's motto, "Regnat Populus," which translates to "the people rule."

The second Arkansas State Quarter

The Arkansas National Park quarter was released on November 5th, 2018 as part of the America the Beautiful Quarters series. This series commemorates national parks and other national sites in each of the fifty states, five U.S. territories, and the District of Columbia. The Arkansas National Park quarter honors the Hot Springs National Park, located in the Ouachita Mountains of central Arkansas.

The reverse design of the Arkansas National Park Quarter features the facade of the historic Fordyce Bathhouse, located in the park. This bathhouse was the largest and most ornate of the bathhouses in the area, and was constructed in 1915. The design also features a thermal spring in the foreground to represent the thermal springs that are found in the park.

The coin's obverse features a portrait of George Washington, modeled after the original design of John Flanagan. The inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "QUARTER DOLLAR", "LIBERTY", "IN GOD WE TRUST", and "E PLURIBUS UNUM".

The Arkansas National Park quarter has significant symbolic value, as it pays homage to the beautiful natural environment of the Hot Springs National Park. It also celebrates the history of the area, as the Fordyce Bathhouse is a reminder of the once booming spa town that the area once was. This coin is a reminder of the important role that nature and history play in the identity of the state of Arkansas.
