Glenn County is located in the Central Valley region of the U.S. state of California, with its county seat in Willows. The county was officially founded on March 5, 1891, when it was carved out from parts of Colusa County. The county was named in honor of Dr. Hugh J. Glenn, who was a prominent agriculturist and the largest wheat farmer in California at the time. Dr. Glenn was also known for his leadership in organizing the development of the area.

Initially, the indigenous Patwin and Nomlaki tribes inhabited the region. In the early 19th century, European and American explorers began to explore and settle in the area. The county experienced gradual agricultural and economic growth for much of its early history. With fertile soil and abundant water sources, Glenn County became a prominent agricultural center in California. Its primary agricultural products include rice, almonds, tomatoes, and livestock.

Today, Glenn County is a highly diverse community with a rich history and a strong connection to its agricultural roots. One fun fact about Glenn County is that it hosts the annual Glenn County Fair in May at the fairgrounds in Orland, which has been a tradition for over a century. The event showcases local culture, agriculture, and talent, and serves as a celebration of the county's close-knit community spirit.
