Front of the US quarter dollar coin   Connecticut State Quarter

The Connecticut state quarter was released in 1999 and was designed by John Mercanti. It features a depiction of the Charter Oak, a white oak tree that served as a symbol of American independence, on the obverse. The reverse of the coin features three symbols that represent the state's history and character: a sailing ship to symbolize Connecticut's maritime heritage, an agricultural sheaf to honor the state's farming history, and three grapevines to represent the state's winemaking tradition. The words "The Constitution State" appear around the edge of the coin.

The second Connecticut State Quarter

The Connecticut National park quarter was released in 2021 and is the fifth of the America the Beautiful Quarters series. It features a design based on the Weir Farm National Historic Site located in Wilton, Connecticut. The reverse of the quarter features a scene of Julian Alden Weir, a renowned American impressionist painter, painting outdoors at Weir Farm. The image is intended to represent the inspiration and creativity that Weir experienced while living and working at Weir Farm.

The reverse of the quarter also features the inscriptions "Connecticut," "Weir Farm," "2021," and "E Pluribus Unum." "E Pluribus Unum" is Latin for "Out of many, one" and is a phrase used on all U.S. currency since 1795. It is meant to represent the unity of the United States and its people.

The America the Beautiful Quarters program is a series of coins issued by the United States Mint in celebration of America's national parks and other national sites. Each quarter features a unique design of a national park or site in each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and five U.S. territories. The program was started in 2010 and will run through 2021. The coins are intended to celebrate the natural beauty and historical significance of each of these places.
