Hardee County, located in the great state of Florida, was established on April 23, 1921. Named after Cary A. Hardee, the 23rd governor of Florida, the county was initially part of DeSoto County before being split and given its own identity. The county seat is Wauchula, a small city with a rich agriculture-based economy.

In the early days, Hardee County's economy primarily relied on agriculture, specifically citrus, cattle, and phosphate mining. The region experienced a boom after the arrival of the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad, as it allowed broad access for goods transportation.

A fun fact about Hardee County is the county's Pioneer Park Days, an annual event held in Zolfo Springs. This exciting festival, typically held in late February or early March, is the largest gathering of antique engine and equipment enthusiasts in the Southeastern United States. Visitors can enjoy live entertainment, food, and a glimpse into the history and culture of Hardee County while exploring the vast collection of antique engines and agricultural equipment on display.
