Taylor County is located in the Big Bend region of the great state of Florida. Established on December 23, 1856, it was named after the twelfth President of the United States, Zachary Taylor, who served from 1849 to 1850. The county has an area of approximately 1,232 square miles, and the prominent city in Taylor County is Perry, which also serves as the county seat.

Originally inhabited by various Native American tribes, Taylor County's history is rich in maritime and forestry industries. In the early 20th century, the establishment of the Hampton Springs Hotel in the area led it to become a popular resort destination known for its healing waters. The hotel reached its peak during the 1920s but was destroyed by a fire in the 1950s.

One fun fact about Taylor County is that the region hosts the annual Florida Forest Festival, a celebration of the area's heritage in the forestry industry. This event includes activities such as the World's Largest Free Fish Fry, arts and crafts, and live entertainment. People come from all over the state to enjoy and celebrate the rich history of the county.
