Coweta County is located in the state of Georgia, USA, and is a part of the Atlanta Metropolitan Area. The county was established on June 9, 1825, and named after the Coweta tribe of Native Americans, who were a branch of the Creek Nation. This land was originally inhabited by the Creek Indians before being ceded to the state of Georgia as part of the 1825 Treaty of Indian Springs.

Newnan, the county seat, was established in 1828 and named after General Daniel Newnan. Coweta County witnessed significant growth due to the construction of the Atlanta & West Point Railroad in the 1850s. This railway connection boosted the local economy and established Newnan as an important commercial hub.

During the Civil War, Coweta County served as a prominent hospital center for wounded Confederate soldiers. Soon after the war, the region thrived due to its productive agricultural industry, particularly cotton cultivation. The 20th century brought economic diversification and industrialization, including the establishment of the William L. Bonnell Company in 1950.

One fun fact about Coweta County is that it has been a popular filming location for movies and television series. For instance, the hit TV series "The Walking Dead" filmed several episodes in and around the town of Senoia, which is located in Coweta County. Other films shot in the area include "Driving Miss Daisy" (1989), "Fried Green Tomatoes" (1991), and "Sweet Home Alabama" (2002).
