Crawford County is a county located in the central part of the great state of Georgia. It was created on December 9, 1822, and was named in honor of William Harris Crawford, an American politician who served as a United States Senator and as the United States Secretary of the Treasury under President James Madison.

The county seat, Knoxville, was founded in 1823, a year after the formation of the county, and served as Georgia's capital for a short time in 1825. The region was primarily a farming and agricultural area during the 19th and early 20th centuries, producing cotton, corn, and other crops. With time, the economy diversified, and now includes industries such as forestry, manufacturing, and services.

Crawford County covers an area of 326 square miles and, as of the 2020 census, has a population of around 12,500 residents.

A fun fact about Crawford County is that it is home to the Museum of Southeastern Indians, located in Knoxville. This museum showcases Native American artifacts and educates visitors about the rich history and culture of the indigenous peoples who once inhabited the area that is now known as Georgia.
