Jackson County is located in the northeastern part of the great state of Georgia, USA. Established in 1796, the county was named after the Revolutionary War hero and Founding Father, General James Jackson. It covers an area of approximately 343 square miles and is part of the Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Roswell Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The area was initially inhabited by Native American tribes, such as the Cherokee and Creek. European settlers began to arrive in the late 1700s, and the county was officially organized on February 11, 1796, from a part of Franklin County. As settlers established farms and plantations, cotton cultivation and mills became the primary source of income in the region during the 19th century.

The county saw significant economic and population growth in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, spurred by the arrival of the railroad and the emergence of various industries, such as textiles, poultry farming, and manufacturing.

Today, Jackson County is known for its charming towns and vibrant communities, including its county seat, Jefferson, as well as Commerce, Braselton, and Hoschton. The county offers a mix of urban and rural living, with growing industry and business alongside traditional agriculture.
