Jenkins County is located in the southeastern part of the state of Georgia, USA. It was established on August 17, 1905, from portions of Bulloch, Burke, Emanuel, and Screven Counties. The county is named in honor of Charles J. Jenkins, Governor of Georgia from 1865 to 1868, who was a prominent lawyer, politician, and advocate for education.

The county seat is Millen, a city that was founded in the early 19th century as a small community called "79" the distance in miles from Savannah to Augusta. During the Civil War, the town was called "Old Buckhead" and played an important role in Georgia's rail system.

Jenkins County has abundant natural resources and a rich agricultural heritage. The main agricultural products include cotton, corn, soybeans, peanuts, hay, and other crops. The county is also well-known for its timber and forest products.

One fun fact about Jenkins County is that the region is home to the Magnolia Springs State Park, which boasts a crystal clear spring that produces approximately seven million gallons of water per day. The park also played a significant role in the Civil War as a prison for Union soldiers, known as Camp Lawton. Today, the park offers recreational opportunities like fishing, boating, hiking, and birdwatching for visitors to enjoy.
