Miller County is located in the southwestern part of the state of Georgia, USA. Established on February 26, 1856, the county was named in honor of Andrew Jackson Miller (1806-56), a Georgia state representative and president of the Bank of Albany. The county seat is Colquitt, which was incorporated on December 19, 1860. The land area of Miller County is approximately 284 square miles, making it one of the smallest counties in Georgia.

The county's history is closely tied to agriculture, specifically cotton production, which was its primary economic driver. It was home to numerous plantations, and during the Civil War, these plantations provided support to the Confederate cause. The region was mainly inhabited by pioneer farmers, and communities started to grow around churches and general stores.

In the 20th century, Miller County experienced significant changes, with the arrival of the railroad and the establishment of schools and businesses. Agriculture remained a vital part of the economy, but the primary crop shifted from cotton to peanuts.

Fun Fact: Miller County is nicknamed the "Mayhaw Capital of the World." Mayhaw is a fruit produced by the hawthorn tree, and it is used to make jellies, jams, and syrups. Colquitt, the county seat, hosts an annual Mayhaw Festival each spring, celebrating the harvest of this unique fruit and showcasing the region's Southern charm and hospitality.
