Pike County is located in the state of Georgia, USA. Established on December 9, 1822, it was formed from parts of Monroe County and was named after General Zebulon Montgomery Pike, an American explorer and soldier who participated in the War of 1812. Pike County encompasses an area of 218 square miles and is part of the Atlanta Metropolitan Area.

In the early 19th century, Pike County was primarily inhabited by the Creek Indian tribes. After the Treaty of Indian Springs in 1821, the Creek tribes ceded their land to European-American settlers, paving the way for the formation of the county.

The county seat, Zebulon, was named in honor of General Pike and was incorporated as a city in 1825. Over time, several other cities and towns such as Concord, Meansville, Molena, and Williamson were also established in the county. Agriculture has been the backbone of Pike County's economy throughout its history, with cotton being the principal crop in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Today, the county is known for its peach and pecan production.

Fun fact: Pike County hosts the annual "Pike County Color Craze 5K and Fun Run," an event where participants are splashed with colored powder throughout the race, making it a vibrant and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
