White County is a picturesque region located in the northeastern part of the U.S. state of Georgia. Established on December 22, 1857, the county was named in honor of Newton County Representative David T. White, who helped establish the new county. With an estimated population of just over 30,000, the county's seat is the charming city of Cleveland.

The area was originally inhabited by the Cherokee Indians before European settlers arrived in the 19th century. The discovery of gold in the 1820s attracted more settlers, ultimately leading to the Georgia Gold Rush. Many gold mines were operational in White County, with some traces still present today. The county saw significant growth in the early 20th century due to the establishment of a railroad line connecting it to other regions.

One fun fact about White County is that it is home to Babyland General Hospital, the birthplace and headquarters of the famous Cabbage Patch Kids dolls. These collectible dolls have been cherished by children and adults alike since their creation in 1978. Babyland General Hospital offers visitors a chance to tour the facility and witness the "birth" of Cabbage Patch Kids, making it a popular tourist attraction in the area.

Another point of interest is the historic Sautee Nacoochee Indian Mound, which reflects the rich cultural heritage of the Cherokee Nation that once inhabited the region. White County also offers picturesque landscapes, outdoor recreation opportunities such as hiking and fishing, and various wineries for the enjoyment of residents and tourists alike.
