Worth County, located in the great state of Georgia, was established on December 20, 1853. It was named in honor of Major General William J. Worth, who served in the Mexican-American War and the Second Seminole War. The county seat, Sylvester, was incorporated on December 21, 1898. Worth County is situated in the southwestern part of the state, covering an area of 575 square miles.
