Adams County is a rural county in the great state of Idaho, which was established on March 3, 1911. It was named after the second U.S. president, John Adams. The county was created by partitioning off a portion of Washington County, and its total area is 1,370 square miles. The county seat is Council, and other significant towns include New Meadows and Bear.

Adams County is located in the western part of Idaho and is bordering the Payette National Forest to the east, which spans over 2.3 million acres. The Weiser River and its tributaries flow through Adams County, providing an essential water source for the region's agricultural and recreational activities.

Historically, Indigenous peoples such as the Shoshone and Bannock tribes lived in the county even before European explorers and fur trappers began arriving in the area. Gold mining played a significant role in the county's development during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This precious metal was first discovered in 1862 near the town of Warren, leading to a small but notable gold rush in the region.

The primary industries supporting the Adams County economy are agriculture, timber, and tourism, with many people visiting the region for its wealth of outdoor recreational opportunities such as hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping.

One fun fact about Adams County is that it is home to the annual World Championship Pig-N-Ford race in Council. The unique event, held since 1916, entails contestants racing Model T Ford vehicles while holding a live pig under one arm. The race consists of five laps around a track, and participants must stop and exchange pigs at the end of each lap. The Pig-N-Ford race has become a well-loved tradition in the region, attracting visitors from all over the country.
