Jerome County is located in the south-central region of the great state of Idaho. It was officially established on February 8, 1919, and named after Jerome Kuhn, the son of W.S. Kuhn, an early promoter and developer of the area. The county was formed from portions of Gooding, Minidoka, and Lincoln Counties. The total area of Jerome County is approximately 602 square miles.

Initially, a thriving agricultural region, Jerome County's economy has diversified over time. Its vast landscape primarily constitutes sagebrush-covered uplands, desert valleys, and canyons, but also includes the Snake River canyon and Basalt cliffs.

The city of Jerome serves as the county seat; other towns within the county include Eden and Hazelton. The county was almost entirely rural during its early years, but the construction of the Minidoka Dam in the Snake River Plain during the 1900s led to the development of agriculture and irrigation, transforming the area into fertile farmland.

A fun fact about Jerome County is that it is home to the I.B. Perrine Bridge, a steel arch bridge famoustly known as a popular spot for BASE jumping (parachuting from fixed structures). This bridge spans 1,500 feet across the Snake River Canyon and is one of the few places in the United States where BASE jumping is legal year-round without a permit.
