Will County is a county located in the northeastern part of the state of Illinois in the United States. The county was founded in 1836 and was named after Conrad Will, a businessman and politician who played a key role in the creation of the Illinois-Michigan Canal, which brought transportation and commerce to the region.

During the 19th century, Will County was an important hub of transportation, as it was home to the Illinois-Michigan Canal, as well as several railroad lines. The county also played a role in the underground railroad, which helped slaves escape to freedom in the north.

In the early 20th century, Will County's economy shifted to manufacturing, as companies such as Caterpillar, Inc. and John Deere established factories in the region. Today, Will County is one of the fastest-growing counties in the state and is home to a diverse range of industries, including healthcare, logistics, and technology.

Will County is home to the Chicagoland Speedway, which hosts several major NASCAR and IndyCar races each year. The track, which opened in 2001, has a seating capacity of over 50,000 and is one of the largest sports facilities in the region.
