.Boone County is located in the central region of Indiana, USA, and was established on April 1, 1830. It was named after the famous American frontiersman Daniel Boone, who is renowned for his exploration and settlement of the Kentucky wilderness. Boone County is part of the Indianapolis-Carmel-Anderson Metropolitan Statistical Area and the county seat is Lebanon, which also happens to be its largest city.
In its early years, the county's settlements were fueled by the construction of the Indianapolis and Lafayette Railroad, which enabled rapid economic development in the region during the mid-19th century. Agriculture has played an integral role in the county's economy, with corn and soybeans being the main crops.
