Hamilton County is located in the central part of Indiana, just north of Indianapolis. Established in 1823, it was named after the famous founding father and first United States Secretary of the Treasury, Alexander Hamilton. The county's first European settlers arrived in the early 1800s and were farmers, millers, and traders. The native Delaware Indians had ceded the land to the U.S. government in the early 19th century.

Carmel, Fishers, Noblesville, and Westfield constitute the largest cities in the county. The county seat and its oldest community, Noblesville, was founded in 1823 and named after Senator Noble of Indiana. The construction of the Indianapolis and Bellefontaine Railroads in the mid-1800s significantly aided local trade and connected Hamilton County to the larger Midwest region.

During the latter part of the 1800s, Hamilton County developed into a prosperous agricultural region. In the 20th century, it continued to grow as a thriving suburban area, attracting new businesses and people due to its high quality of life, top-rated schools, and proximity to the state capital, Indianapolis.

Today, Hamilton County is recognized as one of the fastest-growing and prosperous areas in Indiana. It has transformed from a mostly agricultural area to a thriving residential, commercial, and recreational locale with a diverse economy.

Fun fact: The annual Carmel International Arts Festival, held every September in Hamilton County's Carmel City, showcases various artists from around the world and attracts tens of thousands of visitors, making it one of the premier art events in the Midwest.
