Lincoln County is located in the great state of Kansas and was officially established on February 26, 1867. It was named in honor of President Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States, who was assassinated in 1865. The county is part of the Salina Micropolitan Statistical Area and has a rich history, being originally inhabited by Native American tribes such as the Arapaho, Cheyenne, and Pawnee.

In the 1860s, European American settlers began to move into the area, initially for hunting buffalo and farming. With the expansion of railroads and the Homestead Act of 1862, more people arrived to settle in Lincoln County. The county seat is located in the city of Lincoln Center.

One of the important historical events in Lincoln County was the Battle of the Arickaree Fork, also known as Beecher Island, which took place in September 1868. This battle was part of the Indian Wars and involved the US Army skirmishing with a group of Cheyenne, Sioux, and Arapaho warriors. The battle resulted in a tactical victory for the US Army, although both sides sustained significant casualties.

A fun fact about Lincoln County is that it is home to the "World's Largest Porch Swing," located in the city of Lincoln. This unique attraction is a giant yellow swing set that can hold up to 24 people, making it a popular photo opportunity and roadside stop for visitors.

The county's landscape includes rolling hills, and its economy has primarily been based on agriculture, with crops such as wheat, milo, and corn being grown in the fertile soil. In recent years, tourism has become a more significant contributor to the local economy.
