.Meade County is a beautiful region in the great state of Kansas. Established on March 20, 1873, and named after General George G. Meade, who served in the Union Army during the American Civil War, the county has a rich history.
Initially, the area was inhabited by Native American tribes like the Cheyenne and Kiowa, who favored the land for its fertile soil and abundant water. The arrival of the Chicago, Kansas, and Nebraska Railway in 1887 spurred the growth of the county, attracting more settlers and businesses. Livestock raising, agriculture, and rail access made Meade County a significant contributor to Kansas's economic development.
