Allen County is located in the south-central region of the great state of Kentucky, USA. Established on June 13, 1815, it was named in honor of Colonel John Allen, a senator, and a notable figure of the Kentucky militia who fought and died at the Battle of Frenchtown during the War of 1812. Governed by Barren County until the Allen County Courthouse was completed in 1816, the county consists of 23 townships and covers an area of 352 square miles.

The predominant city and county seat, Scottsville, was established in 1816 and named after the Kentucky statesman and Governor, Charles Scott. Agriculture and small businesses significantly contributed to the development of the region, as Allen County is home to fertile soil and natural resources.
