Bath County, located in the great state of Kentucky, was established on January 15, 1811. It was formed from parts of Montgomery County, which was itself created out of Clark County in 1797. Bath County is named after the famous English spa town of Bath, with the hope to develop mineral springs in the area for public use. It is situated in the Eastern Knobs region of the state, covering an area of approximately 284 square miles.

Owingsville, the county seat, was founded in 1811 by Colonel Thomas Deye Owings, the namesake of the town. The area is primarily rural, with agriculture being the predominant industry. The county has a rich history in farming, particularly in the raising of tobacco and livestock.

A fun fact about Bath County is the presence of the Clear Creek Iron Furnace. Built around 1839, it is a historic structure which was once used for smelting iron. The site, situated near Salt Lick, holds the remnants of the old furnace, and visitors can still see the 30-foot high stack made of large hewn limestone blocks. The Clear Creek Iron Furnace was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975, highlighting its historical significance in the region.
