Carroll County, located in the great state of Kentucky, was established on December 11, 1838. The county was carved out of the larger Gallatin County, with a portion of its land also coming from Henry and Trimble Counties. Named in honor of Charles Carroll, the last surviving signer of the Declaration of Independence, Carroll County has a rich history that reflects upon the development of the region.

Carrollton, the county seat, sits at the confluence of the Kentucky and Ohio Rivers, providing an advantageous location for trade and development since its founding in 1792. The river confluence was a key factor in the county's growth, as it allowed for the movement of goods to larger markets downriver. Carroll County's economy was once primarily agricultural, but it has since diversified, with manufacturing and automotive industries becoming prominent over the years.

One fun fact about Carroll County is that it is home to the Carrollton Bus Collision Memorial, which commemorates the tragic bus accident in 1988 that claimed the lives of 27 people, most of whom were children. This incident led to significant changes in bus safety regulations in the United States.
