Clark County is located in the Bluegrass region of Kentucky and was established in 1792. It was named in honor of General George Rogers Clark, a celebrated Revolutionary War soldier and the founder of the city of Louisville, KY. Winchester, the county seat of Clark County, was founded in 1793. The county spans an area of about 255 square miles, with a population of approximately 36,000 residents.

Clark County has experienced significant growth over the years, especially with the establishment of the Lexington and Eastern Railway in the late 19th century, connecting Winchester to the city of Lexington. This railway facilitated the growth of agriculture, industry, and trade in the region. During this time, Clark County became known for its tobacco production, cattle farms, and horse breeding facilities.

One fun fact about this region is its annual Beer Cheese Festival held in Winchester, KY. The beer cheese, a delicious concoction of beer, cheese, and spices, was invented in Clark County in the 1930s by Johnnie Allman, the owner of Allman's restaurant. Today, the festival attracts thousands of visitors to Clark County, and local restaurants and artisans compete to present the best beer cheese, while visitors can enjoy live music, local crafts, and other festivities.
