Grayson County is located in the western part of the great state of Kentucky, USA. Established on January 28, 1810, Grayson County was formed out of parts of Hardin and Ohio counties. Named in honor of Colonel William Grayson (17501828), a Revolutionary War officer, Senator from Virginia, and a prominent political figure, Grayson County has a rich history that reflects the growth of the region.

Covering an area of 510 square miles, Grayson County was originally inhabited by Native American tribes, such as the Cherokee, Shawnee, and the Chickasaw. European settlers began arriving in the late 18th century and early 19th century. The development of the county was propelled by agriculture, industry, and the utilization of natural resources like timber and minerals.

Leitchfield, the county seat, was founded in 1866 and named after Major David Leitch, who was instrumental in the formation of the city by donating 50 acres of land. Other notable towns and cities in Grayson County include Clarkson, Caneyville, and Big Clifty.

Grayson County is known for its beautiful landscapes, which feature a blend of rolling hills, lush forests, and picturesque waterways. Nolin River Lake and Rough River Dam State Resort Park are two popular recreational spots offering camping, boating, and fishing opportunities.
