Larue County, located in the great state of Kentucky, was established on March 1, 1843. It was formed from portions of Hardin County and named in honor of John LaRue, an early settler in the region. The county seat, Hodgenville, served as a major stage coach stop back in the day and was named after Robert Hodgen, who set up a mill and blacksmith shop in the area.

Larue County has a rich historical background and is perhaps best known for being the birthplace of the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. The Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park in Hodgenville commemorates the humble beginnings of the man considered one of the greatest American presidents.

One fun fact about Larue County is that it hosts an annual event called the Lincoln Days Celebration held every October. It features a variety of activities such as a parade, art shows, races, and other festivities to honor Abraham Lincoln's legacy and his connection to the region.
